Below you will find the top 4 homeopathic remedies used in the veterinary treatment of animal bites. Animals who bite each other when they attack or defend themselves use there canine or eye teeth. These teeth can cause deep puncture wounds which may appear to heal quickly, but have the potential to infect. Because teeth carry bacteria, this can cause abscesses, heat, swelling and pain to develop beneath the closed wound.
If the fight or attack has just happened and there is shock, trauma or fear associated with the injury from the bites.
Dosing Example: Give 2 pillules dry by mouth of Aconite 30c, dose every 15-30 minutes up to 4-6 doses as required.
This remedy follows Aconite well, or may be used at the onset if little or no shock is apparent. Arnica is indicated and helpful whenever there is tissue damage, inflammation or bruseing.
Dosing Example: Give Arnica 30c, 2 pillules dry by mouth every 1-2 hours up to 4 doses, then 3-4 times daily for a few days until improved.

Dosing Example: Give 2 pillules of Hypericum 30c, 3-4 times daily, for 2-4 days until improved.
This remedy is a specific for puncture wounds and fighting infection.
Dosing Example: Give Ledum 30c, 3 times during the first hour following the bite, or as close thereafter as possible. Repeat the remedy once later that day or the next. If the area is very bruised, Arnica 30c can be alternated with Ledum 30c, repeating 3 times daily for the next 3 days.
When the wound is clean, to promote healing and relieve pain use Hypericum/Calendula Cream (Hypercal). Apply 2-3 times daily until healed.
