acts as a safe lymphagogue, increasing circulation in the intraocular tissues, also stimulating collateral circulation and normal metabolism.Cineraria Maritima
has a reputation in the cure of cataract and corneal opacities. It is used diluted, EXTERNALLY (see mixing instructions below), by instilling it into the eye, one drop, applied three or four times a day.
In cases of advanced opacity, and where pathological changes caused deterioration, less favorable results can be expected. However, in the more advanced cases Cineraria
can give temporary relief and serve to postpone eye surgery. The formula calls for Homeopathic, Cineraria Maritima Mother Tincture Ø
which must be diluted first
to make your own eyedrops.
How to Make the Eye Drops
The homeopathic Cineraria mother tincture Ø
should be diluted 1/10 using a sterile saline solution
at a ratio of 1 part Cineraria Mother Tincture Ø
to 10 parts Sterile Saline as the diluent.
Most commercial eye drop preparations contain chemicals harmful to dogs, cats (especially cats) and horses. Buy unpreserved, unbuffered, sterile saline solution for contact lens wearers. Be sure the bottle reads unprocessed and does not say buffered or enhanced with anything else.
Mix and store the eye drop mixture in a Sterilized, covered glass jar, in the refrigerator. I will keep for about one week. Before using, heat to a warm bath temperature by standing the container of solution in a bowl or pan of hot water. It should taste less salty than ocean water. Check with your local pharmacy or you can purchase amber glass eyedropper bottles here
It is used TOPICALLY
, by instilling it into the affected eye or eyes. Dosing Example:
1 drop administered into the eye, three or four times daily. The treatment must be kept up for several months, this is to give the remedy the time it needs in the healing process.
Be super careful and keep the process sterile. Wash your hands and don't touch the eyedropper. Discard the mixture after 1 week and make a new mixture every week thereafter.
Sterilize the jar and the eye dropper bottle each time you make a new batch.
• Corneal opacities
Back it Up With Oral Dosing
In traumatic cases, when cataracts are just forming, (if the symptoms match),
consider using NATRUM MURIATICUM 6X
orally. Dosing Example:
Nat. Mur. 6x, given by mouth, 3 times daily, for several weeks.
If the symptoms match, in the later stages
of cataract, consider SILICEA 6X
orally. Dosing Example to help dissolve scar tissue, etc.:
Silica 6x, given by mouth, 2 or 3 times daily for several weeks.
When choosing an oral remedy you should take all of the animal's symptoms into account first and then consider NAPHTHALINE
, CALCAREA FLUORICA
these remedies point to cataract and corneal opacities, dry eye, photophobia. etc. Click on each remedy to view and compare the symptoms to find the best match to the animal's condition. Then Choose only 'one' remedy
that is most homeopathic to the case. Remember, the animal does not have to have all of the symptoms found in the remedy, however, the remedy should have at least three or more of the strong symptoms found in the animal being treated. NOTE:
If you use a mother tincture of Cineraria maritima
, dilute it 1/10 with a Sterile Saline Solution
, this is because saline will contain salt which will adjust the ph to match the animal's eye and avoid any STINGING
that would occur without it.
Usually, cataracts have typically resolved within 2-3 months. if you are using an oral remedy you can use the Cineraria eyedrops too.
Just give the topical eyedrops 1 hour apart from the single homeopathic remedy you have chosen to be given orally.
