Homeopathy for Deworming Pets

Homeopathic remedy to get rid of worms in pets.

Used correctly, homeopathic remedies can be valuable adjunct to conventional approaches to worming.

They can:
Be used to support a weak constitution. Some animals seem more prone to worm infestations than others. This could be due to a weak constitution so that in effect, the natural resistance to worms is not good. Constitutional prescribing can be used to improve the overall level of general health and ability to resist worms.

Constitutional remedies can be used specifically to help eliminate worms. Remedies that act against worms can be used alongside conventional wormers if need be. If you animal reacts badly to routine wormers or you wish to avoid using chemicals, then it is possible to carry out a worming program using a combination of remedies, supported by constitutional prescribing. The main protocol to doing this is that regular worm egg counts need to be undertaken on the stool to monitor the efficiency of the the treatment. If the number of eggs rises above lets say 800 for a horse, then there is no doubt that you should use conventional treatment. To be realistically effective, aim for a level of around 200 eggs per gram. Monitor the worm egg count every six weeks to ensure that you know the level of infestation. Remember also that correct management is vitally important if you are to achieve any level of success. Always use conventional worming programs if you are in any doubt about your pets health.

For people who are unfamiliar with homeopathy or people who want an all in one product you can use HomeoPet WRM Clear. Follow the manufactures instructions.

Tapeworms

Filix mas 3X

Pinworms

Cina 6X
These parasitic worms target certain mammals, specifically horses, humans and rabbits. Each species of pinworm targets a specific host, so pinworms from a horse will only grow in another horse. Pinworms do not move from one animal species to another. Many dog owners mistake tapeworms for pinworms because the worms look similar. Both parasitic worms attach in the intestines where the adult worms lay eggs. At times, you may see small tapeworm segments outside the anus, much like pinworms crawl from the anus. This explains why many people confuse the two.

Threadworms

Cina 6x, Chenopodium 3c, Chelone 1x, Abrotanum 6c, Santoninum 6c, Teucrium marum 6c, Natrum phos 6x

Threadworms, technically known as Strongyloides stercoralis, are tiny parasites that live inside a dog's digestive tract...Threadworms are spread through the saliva of ticks and the stool of infected animals. Dogs become infected by ingesting threadworm eggs or larvae.

Threadworms are found in a cat’s small intestine. The condition is most likely to occur in unsanitary and crowded environmental conditions, particularly in warm and/or wet climates. While threadworms can also infect humans, the disease is not zoonotic as the parasite found in cats can only spread to other cats.

Using remedies on a practical basis:

Determine your animal’s constitutional remedy. Dosing Example: Give the remedy in a 1M potency, once weekly for three weeks. It would not be wise to repeat this dose without professional help. If you are inexperienced, use one of the other methods listed in the lower potencies.

Use a combination of remedies to try and help eliminate worms.

China 6x, Chelone 1x, Granatum 3x and Filix mas 3x seem to work well together. Add Nat phos 6x if you are treating an animal less than one year old.

Example Dosing: Give twice daily for three weeks. Repeat this combination every 8-12 weeks,

Combine with good yard or pasture management. Pick up any droppings in your yard or field each day to remove eggs and larvae. If you own a horse make sure to keep the stable and its fittings as clean as possible.

Other useful worm remedies:

Cina 30c

This is useful where heavy worm infestations have caused emaciation and weakness. Cina is a good general remedy for worm related problems.

Dosing Example:
Give twice daily as long as needed.

Calc carb 30c or 200c

This remedy can be used where tapeworms are a persistent problem.

Dosing Example:
twice weekly for eight weeks.

Gaertner-Bach 30c or 200c

This is one of the bowel nosodes and can be an extremely valuable remedy where the animal becomes persistently infested with worms. It is also indicated where there is chronic diarrhea or emaciation associated with worms and especially suited to younger animals.

Dosing Example: Give three times weekly for ‘three’ weeks. Nosodes are deep acting remedies and should not be repeated for very long.
