Homeopathic Remedies for Bite Wounds

Animal Bites

Animals who bite eachother when they attack or defend themselves use there canine or eye teeth. These teeth can cause deep puncture wounds which may appear to heal quickly, but have the potential to infect, because teeth carry bacteria. This can cause abscesses, heat, swelling and pain to develop beneath the closed wound.
Oral Treatment / Remedies Given by Mouth
If the fight or attack has just happened and there is shock, trauma or fear associated with the injury from the bites.
Aconite 30c Dose every 15-30 minutes up to 4-6 doses as required.
This remedy follows Aconite well, or may be used at the onset if little or no shock is apparent.
Arnica 30c. Dose every 1-2 hours up to 4 doses, then 3-4 times daily for a few days until improved. Arnica is indicated and helpful whenever there is tissue damage, inflammation or brusing.
If pain is evident the signs may include loss of appetite, restlessness, dullness, panting, or constantly licking or gnawing at the affected place. This remedy helps to ease pain associated with nerve damage. It also helps fight infection.
Hypericum 30c. Dose 3-4 times daily for 2-4 days until improved.
This remedy is a specific for puncture wounds fighting infection.
Ledum 30c. This remedy can be given 3 times during the first hour following the bite, or as close thereafter as possible. Repeat the remedy once later that day or the next. If the area is very bruised, Arnica can be alternated with Ledum repeating 3 times daily for the next 3 days.
Topical Application to the Wound

When the wound is clean, to promote healing and relieve pain use Hypericum/Calendula Cream (Hypercal). Apply 2-3 times daily until healed.

Homeopathic Hypericum and Calendula is a safe non-toxic cream, which is the ideal application for all types of wounds, cuts and sores. It combines the
natural closing and healing properties of Calendula and the infection fighting and pain relieving properties of Hypericum.

NOTE: Calendula should never be used on abscessed wounds that need to drain. Only use Calendula on a clean wound that is ready to close.
