Homeopathic Gelsemium for Pets

Gelsemium is a homeopathic remedy for pets that can be used to treat Fever - Infection - Anticipation Anxiety - Overheating

  • Anticipatory fear and anxiety (trembling with fright). Useful given before events such as showing, racing or obedience trials.
  • To calm pets who experience great fear of going to the veterinarian or groomer.
  • It is also effective for fright with trembling after earthquakes, fire, before a thunderstorm.
  • Viral infections. Acute tonsillitis. Sneezing, runny nose and difficulty swallowing, Very little thirst [during heat].
  • Twitching of muscles, loss of coordination in the legs, leg weakness, possibly leading to paralysis.
  • Heatstroke with prostration (if the condition indicates the characteristics of this remedy).
  • Adapted for animals of a nervous, hysterical temperament. These animals find new tasks or new situations difficult, and the anxiety around these situations can induce the weak state that calls for Gels. Any strong emotion or any shocking event may induce the Gelsemium state.
Keynotes

  • TREMBLING FROM WEAKNESS; TREMBLING FROM FRIGHT, TREMBLING
  • WANTS TO BE HELD THAT HE MAY NOT SHAKE SO MUCH
  • FEAR OF FALLING; this may translate as fear of jumping out of the car or truck, fears of being put back down on the ground, after being held (downward motion causes fear)
  • MAY DESIRE QUIET AND TO BE LEFT ALONE
  • NO THIRST [especially during heat]
  • SLOW PULSE
  • LATHARGIC, DROWSY
  • CHILLS
  • LACK OF MUSCULAR CO-ORDINATION; CONFUSED; MUSCLES REFUSE TO OBEY THE WILL
  • VERTIGO, DIZZINESS (like during a viral infection, influenza)
  • Stroke
Modalities

> Better: for profuse urination [clear, watery urine], for open air and, from moving about, if able. Also raising the head may ameliorate.
< Worse: for damp weather, thunderstorms and fog. Worse for being in a hot atmosphere and from excitement.

Antidotes: China; Coffea; Dig.

Dose: Depending on the animals susceptiibility 6c, 30c or 200c potencies are most commonly used.
